Well, actually it is quite large print really, but we felt that it made sense just to cover all the legalities in one place and under one heading!

Who are you?

Abode Mortgages Limited are appointed representatives of Stonebridge Mortgage Solutions, 9 Lords Court, Basildon, Essex who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Abode Mortgages Limited are a family owned, local business.

Where are you?

We now work from a home office in the historic Cinque Port Liberty town of Brightlingsea. Whilst no longer able to see clients in our offices, under current Covid-19 restrictions I am offering my clients appointments either by Skype, Teams or Zoom or of course telephone and e-mail. Once we are able to visit clients again, I will be offering home visits at times convenient to my clients if that is your preference. Remember in all of our dealings with you, it is ALL about YOU! 

What do you do?

We advise on and arrange mortgages and non investment insurances. Mortgages are sourced from the entire market, Insurances are from a carefully chosen panel of market leading Insurers.

Do you charge Fees?

Our initial meetings, mortgage consultations and quotes are ALWAYS free of charge and with absolutely no obligation to you. If we act on your instructions to apply for a mortgage, we charge a broker fee for arranging and processing the mortgage for you. The fee will be dependent on your circumstances but we promise will not exceed £495. This fee is only payable when we submit a mortgage application to the lender. We will always tell you in writing exactly what fee we will charge. We believe in keeping everything 100% transparent.

What are your opening hours?

We have no formal office hours, but the office is usually attended Monday to Friday between the hours of 09.00 and 18.00. Out of office hours we have an answer facility on our phone lines and will always get back to you the next working day. Appointments are currently by way of video conferencing or telephone and e-mails but when Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed will be offered in your own home with evening appointments available if required. We do not usually offer weekend appointments as we do value family time, but if it is genuinely the only time we can see you, an exception can usually be arranged!

Risk warnings
  • Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

  • If you remortgage, you may incur early redemption penalties.

  • If you are contemplating consolidating unsecured debt into your mortgage please consider the implications of how much additional interest you will have to pay over the mortgage term.

  • Also remember that if the unsecured debt is in a single name and the mortgage is in joint names, that both parties will become jointly and severally liable for the consolidated debt.


Privacy Policy

As you are probably aware (unless of course you have been hiding in a cave for the first 6 months of the year), the law is changing to protect your personal information.  The General Data Protection Regulation came into effect on 25th May 2018.  As a result, we have updated our privacy notice to make is easier for you to understand how we process your personal information.

What do we mean by ‘Personal Data’


Your personal data means any information that describes or relates to your personal circumstances. • Name, address, date of birth, contact details, documents that prove your identity

• Bank account details

• Credit commitments and personal credit history


Using and processing your personal information: the legal basis and purposes


The legal basis which relates to our use and other processing of your personal information may include:

• Processing that is necessary for performance of a contract with you. This includes administering and managing our relationship and updating our records.

• Processing that is necessary to comply with a legal obligation to which we are subject, this includes carrying out due diligence to verify your identity.


Your personal data will be retained as required to continue our business relationship of an introducer. We will retain and use your personal information only for this purpose.


Updating Your Details


You must immediately inform Abode Mortgages Limited of any changes in your personal data so that we can maintain accurate data.

Deletion of Your Personal Data


In any event within 14 days of the date of cessation of any services involving the processing of personal data, Abode Mortgages Limited, will procure the deletion of all copies of that personal data.


Security of Your Personal Data


Abode Mortgages Limited will process – that means collect, store and use – the information you provide in a manner that is compatible with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
